Rediscovering BJJ - Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Nomad Style

Even BJJ Nomads Need a Home

I've been training BJJ for a long time. My gym shut down during the pandemic, and there'd been an awful lot of issues bubbling under the surface even before it shut, so I was pretty burnt out and depressed.

I'm fortunate enough to travel a fair amount for work, and since I was an active competitor and someone who worked a lot of events up and down the country I had friends at a few different gyms. Some guys at The Griphouse suggested I drop in just to get some time on the mats. I did, and it really helped me rediscover my love for the sport.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to spend as much time there as I wanted. Between the war and all the strikes this year I found myself traveling a lot less. But I'm optimistic for 2023.

I started learning to drive at the tail end of 2021 and passed my theory with flying colors. I've had nothing but issues with getting a test, but I'm looking on the bright side. More lessons means more chance of passing the first try, right?

My plan is to get a car in the new year and go on tour. Visit as many gyms as possible, while taking every opportunity to head up north to the place I now consider home.

I'll be writing about the places I visit, seminars I attend, and great people I have the privilege of sharing the mats with, here.
